Walk to Remember

Tina Thibeau Foley is one of the organizers of the Halifax Walk to Remember.

On Sunday, October 17 my family and I will be walking to remember our daughter Micheline Melinda Foley in the second annual Halifax Walk to Remember.

Did you know that October 15 has been proclaimed Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in Nova Scotia?

To celebrate this solemn day, Stacey MacLean, Natashia Hope, Caitlin Oakley and I have worked with the IWK Health Centre and the IWK Foundation to organize a Halifax Walk to Remember to honour and remember our precious angel babies.

Last year, more than 200 parents, family and friends participated in the first annual Halifax Walk to Remember to honor and remember their babies and to share their loss with other families who have had similar experiences.

Every day, a family in Nova Scotia experiences the pain of losing a child as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss. Have you or someone you know been touched by the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)?

Help us honour and remember by walking with us on October 17. Join us at 2:00pm at the Dr. Richard B. Goldbloom Research and Clinical Care Pavilion at the IWK Health Centre, 5980/5850 University Ave., Halifax, for the 2nd Annual Halifax Walk to Remember. Registration opens at 1:30 p.m.

Donations will be accepted by the IWK Health Centre Foundation in support of the IWK’s Spiritual Health services that helps families cope.
